Eintracht Frankfurt extends with shooting star

Kaua Santos showed how great the potential of the 1.96 meter tall goalkeeper is in Eintracht’s last six competitive games. On matchday 3 in the 2-1 win in Wolfsburg, the Brazilian came in in goal for the injured regular goalkeeper Kevin Trapp. Since then, Kaua Santos has impressed with spectacular performances as the Eintracht captain’s representative.

Even though the youngster showed a few wobbles in his game, he was able to draw attention to himself with a number of strong saves. Most recently, he brought Bayern’s offense to despair, and in the Europa League he became the match winner in the away win against Besiktas (3-1).

After we had already reported on advanced discussions about a contract extension, the Eintracht bosses got down to business on Wednesday. Kaua Santos has extended its working paper by two years and is now bound to the SGE until 2030. A clear sign with a view to the future: Santos is likely to be further developed as Kevin Trapp’s successor.

In the summer of 2023, Eintracht signed the keeper from Flamengo’s hometown for 1.6 million euros. After his first season in Germany he was promoted to number two. “Kaua has developed well in recent months and we are firmly convinced of its potential. We want to work with him in the long term and are pleased that we were able to extend the contract until 2030,” says sports director Markus Krösche.

“We recently got a taste of Kaua’s capabilities. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with him on his potential,” added goalkeeping coach Jan Zimmermann. “I am very happy to be here and to have my contract early. I will continue to work hard and want to achieve a lot with Eintracht,” said Kaua Santos.
