Arrest in Billings road rage shooting

BILLINGS — Police announced Thursday that a suspect has been arrested in a street shooting in Billings.

Lt. Matt Lennick said in a news release that 25-year-old Tyler Dillon was being held in the Yellowstone County Jail on possible charges of criminal endangerment, assault and fleeing a peace officer. According to prison records, Dillon was admitted to the facility on October 7th. He has not yet appeared in District Court for arraignment.

According to state corrections records, Dillon has previous convictions in Montana for drug possession, criminal mischief, criminal endangerment and theft and is currently on probation.

The road rage incident occurred on Oct. 2 when police received a report that a driver had rammed another vehicle in the area of ​​Wicks Lane and Saint Andrews Drive and discharged a firearm at the victim. The suspect was spotted by officers traveling at a high rate of speed on Wicks Lane and a chase ensued. Yellowstone County Sheriff’s deputies also joined the pursuit.

Officers were able to successfully puncture the fleeing vehicle’s tires, disabling the vehicle and eventually coming to a stop in the 300 block of Aristocrat Drive.

The suspect fled on foot and was not immediately located.
