For World Mental Health Day, Ashley Judd reports on her years of “epic headaches” – and how she’s feeling today.

On the occasion of “World Mental Health Day” on October 10th, US actress Ashley Judd, 56, shared a personal report on Instagram about a physical and mental illness that quickly caused her despair for many years. She opened her post by saying, “As we celebrate #WorldMentalHealthDay this week, I wanted to share an update on my own health journey with all of you.”

Eight years of “epic headaches”

She goes on to share that the sometimes “epic headaches” she has struggled with in the past appear to have been misdiscovered for over eight years. “Which means,” says Judd, “that for these eight miserable years, in some of our finest medical facilities, I have been treated with medication for a type of headache that I don’t have.”

For her personally, it was a “shocking revelation” to learn that she may have taken on all this suffering completely unnecessarily. But now her long story of suffering has a new, better chapter. “I am now being treated by headache scientists with a much better approach,” Judd writes. “My body has felt good since September 14th – the ‘burden of pain’ has disappeared.” The headaches now only occur sporadically.

Ashley Judd became known as an actress in the 1990s with roles in films such as “Marilyn – Her Life” and the John Grisham film adaptation “The Jury”. In 2017, she was among the first women to make allegations of sexual assault against former film producer Harvey Weinstein, 72, as part of the emerging #MeToo movement.
