Court summons former governor Yahaya Bello for alleged criminal breach of trust

The Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja has summoned Yahaya Bello, former governor of Kogi State, on charges of criminal breach of trust.

The former governor, who was previously listed as wanted by the Economic Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on money laundering charges, is also accused of possessing the ill-gotten property.

The subpoena, issued by Judge Maryann E. Anenih and made available to the public on Friday, alleged that Bello committed the crimes between 2016 and 2023.

According to the October 3, 2024 summons, Bello is charged with violating Section 311 of the Penal Code, Ch. 89 Laws of Northern Nigeria 1963 dealing with criminal breach of trust punishable under Section 312.
