Darts: Devon Petersen is racially abused after a match at MODUS Super Series

Devon Petersen received an angry message on his phone after he opened his phone on Friday morning. The South African shares the native curses in a screenshot on his social media.

Petersen won 4-3 against Noa-Lynn van Leuven in the MODUS Super Series, but one player had bet that Petersen would win 4-2. This person then sent a racist message to the African Warrior.

“You stupid useless black motherf*ck,” the player wrote in his first message. ”You just had to beat a transgender 4-2, worthless motherf*ck,” the player left in a second message.

Petersen then gave a clear answer to the taunts. ”You expect racist remarks to affect me…. I pray that your life is blessed with a considerable amount of wisdom and knowledge so that you do not harm anyone in the future. When the fun stops, STOP. Gambling is not something you do for fun, especially when it affects you in this way. Please do not send me messages in the future because my social networks are only for my fans.”

The nine-time World Cup participant wanted to show his followers that there are not only positive comments. “I’m not giving this man a platform to be mocked, but I’m going to show you why you shouldn’t take social media to heart, especially when it’s someone trying to negatively influence you.”

“This gentleman thought it would affect me by calling me a black motherf*ck, but he doesn’t know that in my country I’m considered colored. “This is a mixed ethnic group and my culture has a living history,” and we have a strong presence worldwide. Always remember that you will only sink if you let water on your boat,” concludes Petersen.

Petersen was recently involved in organizing the African qualifying tournament for the World Darts Championship. South African Cameron Carolissen secured a place in the tournament at Alexandra Palace by beating Kenyan Peter Wachiuri (8-7) in a thrilling match.
