Birmingham police are investigating a shooting

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — Birmingham police are investigating a homicide that left a man dead Friday.

According to BPD, officers responded to the 8200 block of 4th Avenue North around 12:19 p.m. for reports of a person shot. When officers arrived at the scene, they were told the victim ran to a shed in the 300 block of 83rd Street North. Officers then observed the victim in the shed, lying unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigation indicates the victim came to a residence in the 8200 block of 4th Avenue. While at the residence, a verbal altercation may have occurred between the victim and the suspect outside the residence. During the argument, the suspect shot the victim. The victim ran from the scene to the 300 block of 83rd Street, where he collapsed in the shed.
