“Dream wedding” – but not with show host Linda de Mol, but with ex-tennis professional Garbine Muguruza: The Venezuelan-born Spaniard played her last match on the WTA tour in January 2023 and then officially retired in April of this year to be announced from the tennis circus. Last Saturday the rings, hopefully bound together for life, were exchanged in Marbella. Namely between the 31-year-old and the fashion entrepreneur Arthur Borges.

And according to the Spanish weekly ¡Hola! The former world number one didn’t miss out on the glamorous celebrations. “I was inspired by the golden era of Hollywood, by the dresses that Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor wore, which are elegant, beautiful and flattering,” the 2021 WTA Finals champion (Guadalajara, Mexico) told the wedding -Party with a “Flamenco” theme for a total of 90 guests was organized in a private villa. Additionally, the ceremony was held in four languages: Spanish, English, Swedish and Finnish.

Her former coach Conchita Martinez and her ex-doubles partner Carla Suarez-Navarro mingled with the crowd as guests.

Muguruza has remained active in tennis even after her active career. She is currently the director of the WTA Finals, which will be held this year in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).
