Dresden Monarchs in the final against Krösus Potsdam! Seamon will die the coronation with the royal

Eat – It’s the final act of a grueling season, but it couldn’t be bigger. In the stadium on Hafenstrasse this Saturday from 5 p.m. (DF1) the two best teams in the GFL will play for the crown for the German one American Football Championship out of.

The Dresden Monarchs will meet the Potsdam Royals, the defending champions who are still unbeaten this season and who have only suffered one defeat in the past two years – against the Monarchs in mid-June 2023.

Meanwhile, the Brandenburgers swept through the league. At the end of June 2024, the Monarchs also had to admit defeat with a score of 19:40 in the stadium at the airship port. One of the champions’ closer games. At half-time it was still 7:6 for Dresden.

“There are a few things – especially from the second half – that we have to do better. We have it all on our list, but we have it from all the games. We’re a better team than we were back then, but they’re certainly a better team too,” explains Greg Seamon (69).

The head coach of the Monarchs knows that he and his team are going into this game as underdogs.

“I have no choice. I also think that makes sense. Potsdam has only lost one game in two years and none this season. They are the reigning and undefeated champions. They are favorites, but that is exactly one of the “reasons why we like playing this game so much,” explains the 69-year-old.

“I think it’s better to be the underdog. This will motivate us even more. We lost to them in the regular season after leading at halftime. There’s also a lot that drives us for this game.”

Dresden’s NFL-experienced coach will have set up his team correctly. Now Brock Domann (26), Lamonte McDougle (25), Eric Seidel (34) & Co. just have to get it on the pitch in Essen.

Seamon expects a “very physical” game. “Both teams have strong offense and defense. Turnovers will play an important role, and penalties can also be crucial in a final. We want to play physical and aggressive, but at the same time disciplined.”

There is definitely excitement. And perhaps, like Dresden’s last final appearance in 2021, the underdog from the Saxon state capital will prevail again.
