Count Nikolai of Denmark, 25, and his girlfriend Benedikte Thoustrup were out as a couple for the first time at Copenhagen Fashion Week a few weeks ago. While he sat mainly in the front rows at numerous shows, Benedikte even made her debut on the catwalk – and also managed to give a detailed interview to the Spanish “Hola”. The conversation, published on October 11, 2024, is mainly about her love for the fashion industry, her style and her catwalk debut. Benedikte also reveals private details about her relationship with the son of Prince Joachim, 55, and Alexandra von Frederiksborg, 60.

Benedikte and Nikolai have been a couple for several years and even went to Sydney together in the 2023/2024 winter semester to study there. Today they have moved their center of life back to the Danish capital, Thoustrup explains to “Hola”. When asked about the story of how they met, the model remembers her school days.

“Our story began in boarding school, we were in the same classes. For the first year and a half we were just friends, I always found him incredibly funny and admired his intelligence,” Benedikte enthuses about her current partner. And further:

Towards the end of our year he invited me for a walk to the local gas station, which funnily enough was the way you asked someone out at our boarding school.

The weather was “nice,” the model recalled further back, “and us.” [haben] Bought some refreshments at the gas station. It’s funny what such a casual thing has become more than seven years later.

“It’s actually pretty improvised.”

To this day, Nikolai and Benedikte go through thick and thin together. She was on his side when his grandmother Queen Margrethe, 84, decided to strip Nikolai and his siblings of the title of prince and princess. The current Count of Monpezat once again unconditionally supported his loved ones in setting up his own company. Their favorite activity together is traveling, Thoustrup tells “Hola”. “We love exploring new places and immersing ourselves in other cultures.” […] It’s always fun to share these moments, be it getting lost in a new city or […] discovered a restaurant.

Another great passion that they both share is fashion. Benedikte is asked by the Spanish journalist whether she would coordinate her outfits with Nikolai when they both appear at events and draws a connection to David, 49, and Victoria Beckham, 50. The British couple thinks through their outfits down to the smallest detail – a “strategy” that Thoustrup admiringly acknowledges, but does not find reflected in her own relationship. “It’s actually pretty improvised,” she admits, “I love how it reflects our connection and shared style, even if it’s not something we planned in advance.”

Is the next move just around the corner?

Finally, the journalist asks about the young couple’s future plans. Her semester abroad in Sydney wasn’t that long ago, the memories still seem to be very present in Benedikte’s mind. You could imagine growing old in Denmark – but:

At the moment I would also like to return to Australia because of its relaxed lifestyle and sunny beaches. New York was always a dream too […] and not to forget: Paris!

You have already lived in the French capital twice, the influencer continues, and particularly loves the culture there. But she still leaves it open where Count Nikolai and Benedikte will end up soon. The only thing that can be said with certainty is that things won’t get boring in their lives any time soon!
