Nintendo Switch 2 codename revealed in huge leak

Nintendo Switch 2 codename revealed in huge leak

A massive leak related to new Pokemon projects, including Gen 10 and a suspected multiplayer game, has finally given us an idea of the Nintendo Switch 2’s codename. According to the leak, the Nintendo Switch 2 will be referred to internally as “Ounces” (or “Ounce” depending on who shares the leaks), a name we’ve heard before in reference to the Nintendo Switch successor, but only in the Passing by. The same leak that spoke of the Nintendo Switch 2 being codenamed Ounce also, unsurprisingly, suggested that the Gen 10 Pokemon game is actually in development for the next Nintendo Switch.

The Pokémon games and their developer Game Freak appear to have suffered from a pretty significant leak that is currently making the rounds online. In screenshots of files and insights shared online, several Nintendo and Pokemon-focused Twitter accounts have confirmed that there is evidence that the Nintendo Switch 2 is called “Ounces.”

The leak just surfaced this weekend, so people are still taking the time to go through everything that’s been discovered related to Gen 10, a multiplayer Pokémon game that’s rumored to have source code Pokémon Black 2 And Pokémon White 2and much more. Given that we’re still in the early hours of the leak, it’s unclear whether the discoveries will include more that relate solely to the Nintendo Switch 2 or whether Ounces is as much as we’ll get out of it.

This isn’t the first time the codename has been mentioned in connection with the Nintendo Switch 2 either. Nintendo insiders like Pyoro and Necrolipe have previously said that the codename was Ounces (or sometimes “Ounce”), so it seems we now have a much clearer answer as to what Nintendo is calling the Switch 2 internally.

This month alone there has been a lot of speculation about when Nintendo might finally introduce or even release the Nintendo Switch successor. October is a month that supposed insiders have pointed to for a possible announcement, but so is September. So it’s unclear when we’ll actually hear anything about the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo recently announced a new Nintendo Switch Online feature that some believe could be related to the Nintendo Switch 2, but as we’ve already seen with Nintendo, it could be something completely unrelated .
