NFL Week 6 Live Updates, Scores, Injuries, Highlights: Ranking the 5 rookie QBs set to start across the league

The 2024 NFL Draft was a historic draft as quarterbacks were selected with the first three picks and six of the first 12. Three of these players (Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix) began the season as their team’s starters. There will be five rookie signal callers across the league on the field on Sunday, including Drake Maye (Patriots) and Spencer Rattler (Saints), making their first career starts. Let’s rank them by the person we’re most excited about:

5. Bo Nix of the Broncos (vs. Chargers): We’ve already seen five games from Nix and the offense hasn’t been particularly good. An AFC West showdown with the Chargers, while important for the wild card race, isn’t necessarily full of entertainment potential.

4. Caleb Williams of the Bears (vs. Jaguars in London): The No. 1 overall pick will be nationally ranked, which is cool, but it was the defense that helped Chicago get off to a 3-2 start (though Williams has shown steady improvement).

3. Spencer Rattler of the Saints (vs. Buccaneers): Rattler, once a potential No. 1 pick, didn’t hear his name called until the fifth round (150th overall) in April’s draft. He’ll have a chance to prove he’s as deserving of playing time as first-round quarterbacks by filling in for the injured Derek Carr in a crucial NFC South battle.

2. Drake Maye of the Patriots (vs. Texans): That could be ugly against a vaunted Texans defense, but it will still be interesting to see how Maye handles adversity and whether the wide receivers can actually put together some sort of production now that Jacoby Brissett is on the bench.

1. Jayden Daniels of the Commanders (vs. Ravens): Daniels has been one of the best quarterbacks in the entire league for five weeks, and now we can see him face off against the reigning NFL MVP? Yes, that’s an easy #1.
