Finland vs England LIVE: Alexander-Arnold will start at left-back as the Three Lions look to bounce back from humiliating defeat to Greece

Team news

So alongside the inclusions of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Jack Grealish, what’s the rest of the team news?

England will be hoping to have Harry Kane back at the helm after he sat out the defeat to Greece.

The England captain limped off with Bayern Munich against Eintracht Frankfurt before the international break but still joined the rest of the Three Lions at St George’s Park.

The medical staff decided midweek not to take any chances with Kane, but he could return tonight.

Bukayo Saka was eliminated at the start of the second half against the Greeks and has now left the squad along with Curtis Jones.

There could be plenty of changes, with Marc Guehi set to return to the team soon and Angel Gomes hoping to start.

Teemu Pukki came on as a late substitute for Finland in their defeat to the Republic of Ireland on Thursday.

So the former Norwich and Celtic player could get a chance to lead the team.

Experi Trent

Lee Carsley has said he will return to a more “conventional” system today after his failed experiment on Thursday…

But talkSPORT understands Trent Alexander-Arnold will start at left-back for England tonight.

Alexander-Arnold played 90 minutes in his natural right-back position in midweek, but is now changing sides.

That’s probably because Carsley doesn’t have any left-backs to choose from in his squad for tonight’s game.

And it allows Kyle Walker to be in the starting XI after playing no part in the defeat to Greece at Wembley.

Alexander-Arnold is likely to continue his more reversed role, but this time from the left, which will be an unusual role for him.

Another early team news is that Jack Grealish is expected to start on the wing for the Three Lions.

Finland versus England

Hello and welcome to talkSPORT.com’s live coverage of Finland vs England in the Nations League!

The Three Lions suffered an embarrassing 2-1 defeat at Wembley on Thursday, a result that puts Lee Carsley’s long-term future in doubt.

His bold tactics backfired spectacularly as Vangelis Pavlidis scored twice, including an injury-time winner, to hand him a shock defeat.

It could have been much worse, as three goals were disallowed by Greece for offside by VAR, showing how exposed England were.

So Carsley must now get the players together and get going again as they face a Finnish side who lost to the Republic of Ireland last time out.
