What is he doing? Ex-Buli kicker makes Hürzeler happy, BVB flop flourishes

Out of sight, out of mind? It is precisely this phenomenon that we want to counteract with our format “What is he doing?” and show you every week what one or two old acquaintances from Germany are up to.

Things are going better than ever for Fabian Hürzeler since his move to Brighton. With the Seagulls, the ex-coach of St. Pauli is in sixth place in the Premier League table and recently even defeated Tottenham. An old friend from the Bundesliga played a key role in the 3-2 win against Spurs.

Georginio Rutter played at TSG Hoffenheim until the summer of 2023 and then moved to Leeds United for an impressive 40 million euros. Just one season later, the 22-year-old moved to Brighton. The offensive player recently scored twice in a row at the coastal club – does Hürzeler have an upcoming PL star under his wing?

Jonas Hector will probably never have anything to do with professional football and star potential again. Nevertheless: The Cologne legend is still active in the world and has officially had a new club since September.

“Now it’s over, I can officially announce my move back to the big SV Auersmacher,” explained Hector a few weeks ago in his podcast “Schschlag und vor.” However, the change was not necessarily wanted.

Hector has been playing for the Old Men of the SVA for over a year with a guest permit. However, this summer, 1. FC Köln – which was still his main club until then – deregistered him from playing. Now the left-back was forced to move and could perhaps play in the top league again soon. The first Auersmacher men play there.

We can’t tell you where the first men from Leonardo Balerdi’s youth club play. What we can tell you: Since then he has stopped wearing the Borussia Dortmund jersey and he has literally blossomed. Why? That’s pretty easy to explain with these game highlights.

At this point a quick look back: BVB brought the then 19-year-old Balerdi to Germany in 2019 for a proud 15 million euros. However, the defender never really got there with the black and yellow team.

After just seven competitive games for the professionals, he was sold to Olympique Marseille two years later. At OM, Balerdi quickly became a regular player and, at the age of 25, is already captain of the Ligue 1 club.
