England is rehabilitating itself for the Greek bankruptcy

The vice-European champion prevails in Finland – again with captain Harry Kane.

Cologne – Three days after the historic home defeat against Greece, vice-European champions England have rehabilitated themselves. The Three Lions prevailed in the Nations League in Finland – again with their captain Harry Kane – with 3:1 (1:0) and were at least convincing at times. However, interim coach Lee Carsley’s team was also a bit lucky that the hosts missed several great chances.

Jack Grealish gave England an early lead after a clever pass from Angel Gomes (18th). After the break, Augsburg’s Fredrik Jensen missed the excellent opportunity to equalize (57′), before Trent Alexander-Arnold made the decision with a free kick from 20 meters into the corner (74′). Declan Rice made it 3-0 (84′), Arttu Hoskonen scored late for the Finns (87′).

Bayern striker Kane, who was rested due to a minor injury in the first ever defeat against Greece (1:2) on Thursday, came away empty-handed in his 101st international match. In Group B2, England closed on points to leaders Greece, who will face Ireland later in the evening (8.45 p.m./DAZN).
