The smartwatch operating system Wear an operating system offers all users the opportunity to adjust the display according to their own wishes or, if necessary, to completely replace it with a new dial. Smartwatch users can find a really large selection of watch faces in the Google Play Store and therefore have the opportunity to adapt the display almost completely to their own wishes and needs. As part of the Eye-catcher on the wrist Here in the blog we always introduce you to dials that stand out from the crowd and are particularly memorable. Today we’re going to show you a free design that’s best known for Google’s Pixel Watch marketing.

The Watch Face Concentric relies on a mix of digital and analogue representation, with both the minutes and seconds rotating around the current hour. Instead of moving hands, there is a fixed index at the height of the crown (certainly depending on the smartwatch model) in which the current time rotates. The hour has a digital representation and therefore only changes once per hour. This means you can quickly see the time at a glance.

The minutes and seconds can be found on circular 360 degree scales and rotate into the index within. The labeling is rotated and is therefore always correctly aligned to be easy to read. While the minute is always found in the vertical center of the index for easier readability, the seconds dial rotates completely, virtually showing the numbers in motion.

The watch face offers a number of customization options that can be set via the settings: 12 or 24 hours, 30 different color combinations for the individual elements, as well as three different styles for the overall display: only lines in increments of five, intermediate lines for each number, or no lines at all the numbers. The latter may look “clean”, but in my opinion it is a little confusing at first glance.

Of course, there is also a variant for the always-on display that does not require animations. In this mode, only the hour and minute including the distinctive design are visible, while all other moving numbers are hidden. Based on the Pixel Watch model and also as a result of the design, there was initially no option to display additional information on this watch face. However, that has changed, as the most recent update brought support for a complication and additional designs.

Give it a try, the Watch Face is available to download for free from the Google Play Store. Also take a look at the other watch faces from WatchFace Designs, some of which we have introduced to you in the past.
