MMA fighter Max Coga emerged victorious in his fight against Antun Račić. But that wasn’t without consequences for him.

Dramatic incident in Frankfurt: MMA fighter Max Coga unexpectedly had to undergo emergency surgery on Sunday. He had previously broken his hand in the first round of his fight against Antun Račić, but continued to fight and even won.

The athlete’s condition had worsened after the fight, requiring immediate medical intervention. In the interview after his fight he had already suspected that he had broken his hand. A little later the confirmation: open hernia and emergency surgery.

Immediately before the operation, Coga gave the all-clear via Instagram. “I’m doing well. I am very happy. Nothing could have stopped me from fighting until the bitter end. We made history yesterday and I’m very, very happy about that,” said the 35-year-old in a video from his hospital bed on Sunday morning.

Details of the nature of the injury and the operation are not yet fully known, but it is believed that the operation stabilized the athlete’s health.
