Oswald local councilors congratulate their secretary Leo Baumberger on his 60th birthday.

ST. OSWALD. “Stay as you are and keep your sense of humor,” said Mayor Rosemarie Kloimüller, thanked “her community Leo” for his work and great commitment to St. Oswald and said: “You’re not allowed to retire for a long time!”

All local councilors agreed with these congratulations on Leo Baumberger’s 60th birthday as well as good health and continued creativity at their meeting on October 9th, 2024. Deputy Mayor Gerhard Porranzl from the ÖVP and the SPÖ parliamentary group with managing councilor Erwin Gattinger also warmly congratulated.

“It’s a little unusual when you photograph and report on over 1,000 birthday parties over the years and then all of a sudden you find yourself the center of attention at a birthday party! But it’s nice,” said the celebrator.

Joined since 1986

Leo Baumberger has been working part-time at the St.Oswald municipal office since 1986 and also runs a mountain farm with his husband Erika. Since the age of 13, he has been passionately reporting on his homeland in various media to this day. At that time he developed the photos in the basement and later in his own darkroom. He invested more than a dozen cameras and a lot of free time in this. The Oswald community homepage alone, which he maintains around the clock, has 700,000 visitors a year.

As the local branch manager of the educational and local organization, he has produced 36 Oswald village newspapers over the past decades, produced 800 music CDs with Oswald singers and musicians with the title “When the Waldviertler Land knows” and sold them all, and launched the Oswald events calendar , was a local councilor and local farmers’ councilor and much more.
