A man was killed in a youth flag football shooting at Milwaukee Public Schools South Stadium, police said

MILWAUKEE (WLS) – A man was shot as children played flag football at a nearby stadium, police said.

The shooting happened at the Milwaukee Public Schools South Stadium at about 1:02 p.m. Saturday

First responders immediately checked the stadium and cleared it of any danger to the families.

Milwaukee police said they found a 47-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital where he later died.

A 37-year-old man was arrested, but police said he was not a suspect.

It is not known what led to the fatal shooting.

A neighbor who lives near the stadium told ABC Milwaukee affiliate WISN that Sge saw a man lying on the ground and people tried to help him as parents and children rushed from the scene.

Milwaukee Public Schools thanked “first responders for their quick response to the situation.”
