Lörrach district: Hospice expansion begins – Lörrach district

Urgent need for more places

New places necessary

The need for more places is urgent, says facility manager Graziella Scholer, considering the long waiting list. Initially, a new hospice in Tallage was considered – on the site of the former “Holy Family” branch church on Käppelestrasse, which was founded between 1965 and 1967 and profaned in 2016. Finally, they thought about a new building next to the neighboring St. Fridolin senior center on the Stettener Buck. However, the considerations failed due to official objections to the building site on the edge of the forest. The final solution provides for the expansion and expansion of the facility at Joseph-Rupp-Weg 7.

Graziella Scholer: “Many people want to die at home”

A quiet room and a meeting room are planned for the attic. The elevator should be pulled all the way to the top. In the basement, in addition to new offices, there is a day group with eight to ten places for people with palliative care, whereby terminally ill people are cared for during the day but can continue to live at home.

Die at home

“Many people want to die at home, and that is also possible these days,” says Scholer, pointing to the close cooperation with the Lörrach palliative network. The network responsible for specialized outpatient palliative care (SAPV) provides outpatient care and continues to do so in the hospice. “Our goal is smooth transitions,” emphasizes the director.
