Tennis stars play for the biggest prize money of all time

Tennis stars play for the biggest prize money of all time

Many fans rub their eyes in amazement: six tennis stars, including Rafael Nadal, are competing against each other at the newly introduced Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia. The prize money announced in advance was probably not insignificant for the acceptance. A victory is more lucrative than the grass classic at Wimbledon.

The six “kings” of tennis are playing for the biggest prize money of all time at the Six Kings Slam in Saudi Arabia. The tournament, sponsored by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (October 16th to 19th in Riyadh), is putting an unprecedented amount of money into the pockets of the superstars.

Each of the six participants is guaranteed a minimum prize money of 1.5 million US dollars, i.e. almost 1.4 million euros, as reported by the “Tennis Clubhouse” portal, among others. That alone is almost equal to what Taylor Fritz received ($1.8 million) for his runner-up finish at the US Open. The winner of Riyadh will win big, namely a whopping 6 million US dollars (5.5 million euros) – almost double the prize money for a Grand Slam winner (3.8 million USD).

Since the ATP does not support the event, no world ranking points will be awarded.

Nadal and Djokovic only need two wins to win the jackpot

The organizers were able to attract six of the best tennis players in the world for their tournament debut. Record Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic is there, as is current world number one Jannik Sinner. Superstar Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune are also fighting for the mega prize money.

Meanwhile, the biggest focus should be on veteran star Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard, a 22-time Grand Slam winner and one of the best tennis players of all time, will hang up his racket in November after the Davis Cup. The fact that the 38-year-old is now serving in Riyadh is one of the great special features of this tournament.

In Riyadh, Nadal and his long-time competitor Djokovic have made it a little easier to get their hands on all the money. The two veteran stars only get involved in the action on Thursday: Nadal calls for the winner of the game between Alcaraz and Rune, Djokovic plays against Medvedev or Sinner. If they win, they will be in the final on Saturday – two games are enough to win the jackpot.
