Woman Fatally Shot in East New Orleans; Person of interest wanted

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A woman was shot and killed in New Orleans East on Wednesday evening (October 16), the NOPD said.

The fatal shooting occurred in the 6200 block of Bridgehampton Drive.

Officers responded to the scene around 7:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found the woman unresponsive and suffering from at least one gunshot wound.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have identified Eric Christopher Gentris, 35, as a person of interest in the case. Although Gentris is not accused of a crime, investigators believe he may have important information for the investigation.
