Newark police make a wave of arrests during a crackdown on “violent crimes.”

NEWARK, NJ – Newark police recently arrested more than a dozen people wanted for alleged “crimes of violence,” authorities announced Tuesday.

The Newark Department of Public Safety released the following list of suspects, charges and arrests that occurred October 3-10:

  • Sarrons Walker, 46, of Newark, was arrested on October 10, 2024, on a warrant for robbery and conspiracy in an incident on August 30, 2024, on Poe Avenue near South Orange Avenue. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant in Perth Amboy.
  • Bienvenido Montalvo, 78, of Newark, was arrested on October 9, 2024, for aggravated assault and criminal mischief in connection with an incident on September 1, 2024, in the 100 block of Broadway.
  • Jazzmen Young, 36, of East Orange, was arrested on October 9, 2024, on an outstanding warrant in connection with a shooting on August 27, 2024, on Alexander Street near South Orange Avenue. She is charged with endangering the welfare of children, hindering apprehension or prosecution and obstructing the enforcement of law.
  • Nibaldo Broncanolema, 25, of Newark, was arrested on October 9, 2024, on two counts of aggravated assault in connection with an August 14, 2024 incident in the East Ward.
  • Naasia Boyd, 32, of Elkton, MD, was arrested on October 9, 2024. She was wanted for aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in a July 6 incident at 2024, at 13th Avenue and South 6th Street.
  • Matthew Crespo, 31, of Newark, was arrested on October 8, 2024, on charges of resisting arrest in connection with a previous warrant for burglary and harassment.
  • Alamin Means, 49, of Newark, was arrested October 8, 2024. He was wanted for aggravated assault in connection with an Aug. 31, 2024 incident at South 10th Street and Springfield Avenue.
  • Tamir Cuttino, 31, of Newark, was arrested on October 7, 2024. He was wanted for unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of prohibited weapons, receiving a stolen vehicle and prohibiting certain persons from possessing weapons in connection with an incident on July 6, 2023.
  • Bobseus Williams, 63, of East Orange, was arrested October 4, 2024. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, terroristic threats and criminal coercion in connection with an August 14, 2024 incident on Poe Avenue in Newark.
  • Jomall Braithwaite, 38, of Orange, was arrested October 3, 2024. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault and simple assault in connection with an Aug. 29, 2024 incident on West End Avenue.
  • Emmanuel Torres, 25, of Newark, was arrested on October 8, 2024. He was wanted on charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and criminal coercion in connection with a September 18, 2024 incident on McCarter Highway near 4th Avenue.
  • Jerome Brown, 59, of Newark, was arrested on October 8, 2024, for robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with an incident on September 30, 2024 in the 100 block of Halsey Street.
  • Troy DaCruz, 19, Greenbrook, was arrested October 8, 2024. He was wanted on charges of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, criminal misrepresentation and conspiracy in connection with a shooting that occurred on the 200 block of 18th Avenue.
  • Lillian Padilla, 50, of Newark, was arrested on October 7, 2024. She was wanted for aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with an incident that occurred on September 15, 2024, on Pine Grove Terrace near South Orange Avenue.
  • Altaron Evans, 18, of Newark, was arrested October 10, 2024. He was wanted for aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a weapon by a minor in connection with a shooting on September 9, 2024, in the 200 block of South Orange Avenue.
  • Moses Taylor, 34, of Paterson, was arrested October 10, 2024. He was wanted on two counts of invasion of privacy and one count of harassment.

Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé credited the Newark Police Division’s Major Crime/Fugitive Response Team and SWAT with being responsible for the recent arrests.
