Drone video shows the path of destruction left by the tornado outside Milton

Drone footage captured last week after tornadoes caused by Hurricane Milton hit the US was a prime example of how destructive a hurricane can be.

Footage shared by North Carolina-based energy and gas company Duke Energy showed the damage caused to a field of solar panels in Florida. In the video, taken Oct. 10 at the Lake Placid Solar Power Plant in Sylvan Shores, a clear path of destruction can be seen snaking through the middle of the field where the tornado passed.

Amid the thousands of still-standing solar panels that generate enough energy to power 12,000 homes, a diagonal line of metal debris can be seen stretching almost entirely across one lot at the facility, leaving empty rows of scrap metal.

Aerial footage shows the tornado’s path through a solar power plant in Florida

Drone video shows the path of a tornado through a solar array. The tornado formed as Hurricane Milton approached Florida.

Highlands County, where the solar farm is located, reported at least one person injured after Wednesday’s tornado severely damaged the Tropical Harbor Mobile Home Park outside Milton, Fox 13 News reported.

On Tuesday, Duke Energy’s outage map reported that 46,809 customers in Florida still have no power.

In total, more than 400,000 people in the state are still in the dark as emergency responders grapple with widespread outages and gas shortages.
