Huawei Watch GT 4: New features of the successor Watch GT 5 (Pro) are coming to the smartwatch via an update

A few weeks ago, Huawei launched the new Watch GT 5 series smartwatches (from 249 euros at Huawei), which are currently available with various advantages at launch. The wearables Huawei Watch GT 5 and Watch GT 5 Pro have some new features compared to their predecessor, from which the previous generation will apparently also benefit.

The manufacturer in China is currently distributing new firmware for the Huawei Watch GT 4 (from around 190 euros on Amazon) to registered participants via its HarmonyOS beta program, as various users report. The new version HarmonyOS 4.2.0.521 (C00M07) is a good 320 MB in size when downloaded and brings a number of health features and other features from the Watch GT 5 model series to the Huawei Watch GT 4.

According to the translation of the Chinese update description, HarmonyOS 4.2.0.521 expands the smartwatch, which is available in two sizes, with, among other things, a new health trend analysis including fat reduction and body shape. It also adds pulse and arrhythmia detection (NMPA) as well as improvements in the form of calendar and month view for the female menstrual cycle. Improvements for runners are also mentioned. In addition, the 46 mm larger Huawei Watch GT 4 will also support Huawei’s Sunflower GPS solution and thus improved GNSS tracking after the update.

It is currently unknown when the HarmonyOS 4.2.0.521 update will be available for download for all Huawei Watch GT 4 users. It could still be some time before it arrives in Europe. But it is an exciting prospect and shows that Huawei is willing to continue improving the year-old Watch GT 4 despite the launch of the next generation.
