Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar’s ‘final moments’ appear in video, Israel says

A drone video released by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) shows a man they identify as Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar hurling a stick at the drone in what are believed to be “final moments” before his death on Wednesday, October 16 southern Gaza Strip was killed.

Sinwar is believed to be the architect of the Hamas-led attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, which sparked the current conflict in Gaza.

The IDF said Sinwar was killed on Wednesday evening along with two other Hamas members in Rafah. The soldiers involved were not actively looking for Sinwar at the time, it said.

The location of the video was confirmed to be a building in the Tal as-Sultan area of ​​Rafah Governorate. Storyful was unable to independently verify the identity of the man in the video.
