The video has been viewed over two million times on Facebook and social media site X, alongside similar claims.

However, the railway line remains under construction.

“The work on this railway line in Uttarakhand is still incomplete and the target is to complete it by December 2025. The line itself is not ready yet,” Ajit Singh Yadav, chief manager of the Uttarakhand railway project, told AFP on October 16.

The Indian Ministry of Railways had already shared images on X on September 19th showing the ongoing construction work on the railway line (Archived link).

The circulating video shows a railway line in the Chinese province of Hunan.

A reverse image search followed by a keyword search on Google found the same video uploaded to TikTok’s Chinese version Douyin on October 2, 2024.

A comment on the post said the video was shot near the city of Yanbodu in Cili County, China’s Hunan Province.

The Hunan-based user shared another video on October 5, 2024, captured from a similar aerial angle on the railway track.

The same video was shared here and by other users on Douyin Here, and on Instagram here with the caption that it is located in the city of Yanbodu, Hunan Province (archived link).

Further keyword searches led to a longer version of the clip on YouTube and on X (archived links here and here).

The satellite images of Cili County on Google Earth correspond to the images in the longer version of the video (archived link).
