Life is Strange double exposure: spoiler alert! Early access causes leaks

Starting this week you can play the first two chapters of Square Enix’s adventure Life is Strange: Double Exposure.

If you are willing to pay 30 euros more for the Ultimate Edition. But all of this could backfire.

Dataminers publish spoilers

What neither Square Enix nor Deck Nine really took into account is that data miners look at the early access version down to the last detail.

And they found what they were looking for, because they discovered unencrypted audio files that belong to the rest of the game. And that in turn means that spoilers end up online not quite two weeks before the release.

As PlayStation LifeStyle reports, there is a post on Reddit, for example, that probably summarizes large parts of the story.

Push Square adds that these are probably details about the antagonist, the story and possible endings. The information probably originated on 4chan before it was deleted there. But that doesn’t seem to change the fact that they are now in circulation.

In total, Life is Strange: Double Exposure has five chapters. Anyone who buys the Ultimate Edition can play the first two in advance and then move on to the official release.

After announcing the Ultimate Edition, Square Enix had already received heavy criticism from fans because the publisher was essentially charging 30 euros just so you could play earlier.

Early access phases are also known from other games, although the period is rarely as long and the surcharge often does not quite correspond to the difference as in this case.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure will be released on October 29, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
