Meta is partnering with Blumhouse to test an AI-powered video creation tool

Meta has collaborated with Hollywood company Blumhouse, known for producing horror films, to test its generative artificial intelligence (AI) video model, Movie Gen.

The partnership aims to explore the possibilities of Movie Gen, which uses text input to create custom videos and sounds.

Capable of producing 1080p HD videos with audio, Movie Gen offers filmmakers a novel tool to express their creative visions.

The pilot involved a select group of filmmakers, including Aneesh Chaganty, The Spurlock Sisters and Casey Affleck, working with Meta’s generative AI researchers.

They experimented with the technology and incorporated the AI-generated clips into their projects.

Chaganty’s film will be shown on the Movie Gen website, followed by works by Affleck and The Spurlock Sisters.
