Man killed in shooting at Wells Branch apartment complex

One person has been arrested after a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in North Austin’s Wells Branch neighborhood Thursday night, officials said Friday.

Travis County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call at 6:16 p.m. reporting someone had been shot in the 2800 block of Wells Branch Parkway. The victim, a man aged around 20, was found in the passageway of a residential building. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was performed and he was revived, officials said in a news release. However, the victim died after being taken to a hospital.

The release said several witnesses remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation and a person of interest was arrested. The people involved knew each other and there was no indication there was any danger to the public, officials said.

The sheriff’s office said the victim’s identity will be released pending positive identification by the Travis County coroner and notification of next of kin.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the sheriff’s tip line at 512-854-1444 or Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477.
