What a difference two weeks make.

After often dominating in losses to Alabama and USC, the Badgers came out pretty strong in lopsided wins over Purdue and Rutgers.

If they beat Northwestern on the road on Saturday, they will enter Camp Randall’s home opener next week against No. 3 Penn State on a three-game winning streak.

Running back Tawee Walker was impressive in the Purdue and Rutgers games. In his final eight quarters of play, he recorded 43 carries for 292 yards and six touchdowns.

Wisconsin vs. Northwestern Predictions, Tips, Odds

Mark Stewart: Normally this would have the makings of a trap game, but not this year. Last year’s loss to the Wildcats was embarrassing and there are still many players who felt the pain of that loss. As long as the Badgers protect the ball and the defense doesn’t allow many big plays, they should leave town with their third straight win. Wisconsin 31, Northwest 17.

JR Radcliffe: OK, I’m sold. After the Rutgers game, Wisconsin has now performed exceptionally well in five of their last six halves of football, enough to convince me that they have rightly turned things around under head coach Luke Fickell. The question is how important this move is and whether the Badgers can avoid a slip-up against Northwestern. This isn’t an easy game to win, coming in an unusual setting against a team that has given the Badgers fits in the past, despite knowing an intimidating corridor of schedule awaits. But given the obvious confidence of Braedyn Locke, a defense that appears to have overcome its lack of playmakers, and the thunderbolt of Tawee Walker, I’m confident about Saturday. Wisconsin 30, Northwest 7.
