Students from Markneukirchen bring the story of crooks to the stage

Students from Markneukirchen bring the story of crooks to the stage

Trickster story with dancers and ballet

There is a new musical every two years. This time it’s “Criminal Tango” – a crook story set in 1920s London. The musical is presented to the audience with lots of music, action and humor, explains one of the leading actresses, 18-year-old Charlotte Sporn. “It’s just a huge show. We have a lot of dances and a ballet that does great choreos.”

It’s definitely challenging. But it’s still extremely fun and it’s just great to be on stage together and show what you’ve achieved.

former student and musical actress

The ensemble is mostly made up of students from grades 9 to 12. There are also some former high school graduates. This includes Emelie Schröder. She plays the greedy and selfish Rudy. “It’s definitely challenging. But it’s still extremely fun and it’s just great to be on stage together and show what you’ve worked on.”

Rehearsals for a musical career

Each of the young actors would absolutely thrive in their role and take a lot of things with them for school and life, says project manager Michael Straube again and again. “You not only learn to sing and speak clearly, but above all to become more self-confident.”

The musical project has already been a springboard for some actors into an artistic career in the past, says Straube. Emelie Schröder could also imagine this. “The dream would be to continue doing something in the direction of a musical. It’s difficult to get into the industry. But of course it would be nice.”

Shows sold out quickly

Now all the actors in “Criminal Tango” are looking forward to the big premiere on Sunday. The total of twelve performances are already completely sold out – with the exception of a few remaining seats.
