FritzApp Fon and WLAN receive updates + lab for FritzBox 6670

FritzApp Fon and WLAN receive updates + lab for FritzBox 6670

Even before the start of the IFA, AVM has made a number of announcements about new devices. Updates for existing routers and the FritzApp have also been made available over the course of the week. Now it continues with a laboratory update and even more app updates for iOS.

AVM

Lots of new things just before the IFA

On Monday, AVM presented the new FritzBox 4050 as the successor to the 4040. On Tuesday, there was information about the new FritzBox 5690, 5690 XGS, 6860 5G and 4690. New WiFi repeaters and smart home devices are also expected. Then yesterday there were laboratory updates for the FritzBox 7590 AX, 7590 and 7530 as well as six other FritzBox models.

Lab update for another cable router

Today it’s another router’s turn. The FritzBox 6670 Cable is also receiving new beta software. Compared to the previous version, the laboratory version 7.90-115579 contains two adjustments that fix errors in the Internet and Mesh areas.

  • Fixed: In the IPv6 settings, the IPv6 prefix of the home network might not be displayed under “Prefixes in use”.
  • Fixed: In rare cases, the Mesh function was not activated when connecting a FRITZ!Repeater by pressing a button.

The update can be installed via the router’s user interface or downloaded manually from the AVM website. Since it is always advisable to create a backup of the settings beforehand, this is something to consider when installing the beta software.

App updates for iOS

AVM is also making new versions of its FritzApp Fon and FritzApp WLAN available for iOS users. The FritzApp Fon was already updated on Android devices in June. The FritzApp WLAN, on the other hand, was updated on both mobile operating systems just a week ago. But now they are following up immediately.

As always, AVM is keeping its cards close to its chest when it comes to app updates, only talking about “stability and detail improvements”. But at least that means that Apple users will not receive any new functions with version 5.4.2 of the FritzApp Fon and version 1.11.5 of the FritzApp WLAN.

Both apps are now available for free download from the Apple App Store.
