What is Novak Djokovic’s schedule for the rest of 2024 and when will he play next? Will he play in the Laver Cup and Davis Cup?

Novak Djokovic failed in his attempt to win his record 25th Grand Slam title as he was defeated in the third round of the US Open.

It is the first season since 2017 in which Djokovic has not won a Grand Slam title and he must now wait until 2025 for his next chance to break the tie with Margaret Court for the most major titles in history.

However, Djokovic will soon be back on the court and will try to end the season on a positive note.

When and where will the 37-year-old play next and what does his schedule look like for the rest of the year?

Next up is the Davis Cup. Will he make it to the tour finals?

Djokovic’s next match is a Davis Cup appearance against Serbia.

Djokovic will face Stefanos Tsitsipas’ Greece in Serbia’s World Group I Davis Cup tie in Belgrade on September 14-15.

The winner of the tie will participate in the 2025 Davis Cup qualifiers.

Djokovic led Serbia to victory in the Davis Cup in 2010 and almost won a second round last year, but lost twice in one day to Italian Jannik Sinner in the semifinals.

Playing for Serbia remains one of Djokovic’s biggest motivations and victory over Greece could be the first step towards winning the Davis Cup in 2025.

Djokovic is a four-time champion of the ATP 1000 event, which begins on October 2, and returns for the first time since 2019.

From Shanghai, Djokovic will travel to Saudi Arabia to win a huge prize at the Six Kings Slam exhibition tournament.

Djokovic will compete in Riyadh from October 16 to 19 along with Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Daniil Medvedev and Holger Rune.

Each player will reportedly receive $1.5 million (£1.14 million) for participating in the event.

Where Djokovic will play next remains to be seen.

The two remaining major events on the calendar are the Paris Masters, which begins on October 28, and the Nitto ATP Finals, which begin on November 10.

Djokovic is currently ranked ninth in the overall Race to Turin rankings and is therefore currently outside the last qualifying spot for the ATP Finals.

No Grand Slam titles, but still a golden year

Djokovic has been the dominant force at the Grand Slams in recent years, winning seven times since the start of 2021, overtaking Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in the all-time rankings.

Although he did not win his 25th major title this year, he did win a much-desired gold medal.

So how did Djokovic look back on his year after his loss at the US Open?

“I felt like I could make it to the end at Roland Garros, but then the injury happened. I played the final at Wimbledon… The Olympics were my biggest goal and I played my best tennis in Paris.”

“If it’s a year like that – that I win an Olympic gold medal without winning a Grand Slam – then I accept it, because I’ve been waiting for this gold my whole life.

“It is a fact that this is my worst season in terms of results in the last 15 years, it seems that way to me, but it is what it is.”
