Fischbach-Göslikon: Seasonal market will be reduced

Fischbach-Göslikon

The seasonal market has become a tradition – but it is now reduced to two events

The seasonal market in Fischbach-Göslikon is now part of village life. Despite its success, the market will now only take place twice a year. The next event on Saturday, September 14, will feature a “clean-up day”, nine stands – and for the first time, a band will perform.

The seasonal market in Fischbach-Göslikon has now become a tradition. Since its introduction in 2022, the forecourt of the community center has been transformed into a lively meeting place every year. Arts and crafts, culinary specialties and a small festival attract many curious onlookers. “The organization is now routine,” says municipal clerk Ronny Wasem with satisfaction. He adds: “It is a typical small community market where the village meets.”

In May, the seasonal market in front of the community center was well attended.

Next Saturday, September 14, various exhibitors will once again be offering their products from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. “Among the nine stalls there are those with flowers, cakes and bread. The hunting club is also represented,” says mayor Renate Ballmer, who started the market two years ago. She remembers the beginnings: “In 2022 we had originally planned a farmers’ market, then a village market. But in the end it became the seasonal market.”

For the first time, a band performs during the market

Until last year, the market took place three times a year, in spring, summer and fall. “Unfortunately, the summer market in 2023 was not well attended. “Based on this experience, we decided to only hold it twice a year,” explains Ballmer. Now the event is a supplement to the popular Christmas market.

A special innovation this year is the musical contribution: the band “los-e-mol” will perform at 11 a.m. Food and drink will also be provided. A small festival restaurant with a grill and seating invites you to linger.

The “Clean-Up Day” was already organized by the Cultural Commission last year.

At the same time as the market, the “Clean-up Day” will take place again, organized by the Fischbach-Göslikon Cultural Commission. “We hope for a lot of spontaneous helpers,” says Sonja Killias from the Cultural Commission. From 10 a.m., volunteers will collect rubbish in the village to make an active contribution to environmental protection. “It’s not just about keeping the village clean, but also about raising awareness of our environment,” emphasizes Killias. As a thank you for their efforts, the helpers will be given free food afterwards.
