From FC Bayern to the Moroccan national team: Adam Aznou celebrates an impressive debut at the age of 18 and is named ‘Player of the Match’.

Munich – Adam Aznou has reached a significant milestone in his still young career. At just 18 years, three months and seven days old, he celebrated his first game for the Moroccan national team last Monday evening. This happened despite the fact that he has not yet played as a professional for FC Bayern Munich. Morocco, fourth in the 2022 World Cup, won the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Lesotho 1-0. Aznou was promptly named “Player of the Match”.

Aznou returns euphorically to FC Bayern

Aznou describes his experience on the club’s own website: “It was definitely an indescribable feeling. Even now, a few days later, I am still incredibly happy and grateful that my teammates made it so easy for me to get started.” He described his first game as a “dream debut” that was made even sweeter by a win for his team. He added: “My jersey from the game will have a special place at my parents’ house.”

His family was there to support him, making this special day even more memorable for the full-back. Aznou has played 15 games for FC Bayern’s second team so far, providing one assist in the Regionalliga Bayern. He moved to Munich from FC Barcelona’s youth system in 2022. Coach Vincent Kompany will certainly be following his development closely.

Bayern talent will always remember a special day

Aznou remembers the preparation for this special day. “Before the party, the coach gave me one or two signs that I could be in the starting lineup.” “He gave me confidence and gave me a lot of advice, which helped me a lot,” he said. The support of his teammates allowed him to play “freely”: “I was obviously very happy that I could start.”
