Love County Sheriff ensures public safety during murder investigation

MARIETTA, Okla. (KXII) – Love County Sheriff Andy Cumberledge confirms there is no threat to public safety amid the ongoing homicide investigation following a shooting north of Marietta Tuesday morning.

He writes that members of the Love County Sheriff’s Office, Marietta and Thackerville police, and officers from the Johnston and Carter County Sheriff’s Offices executed a search warrant on Friday, September 13, for a possible “person being pursued” in a murder case.

However, the man had warrants out of Love and Carter County and was arrested for meth possession.

A woman who was arrested for drug possession also lived in the house.

The murder investigation is currently ongoing. We are still following up on several leads we have collected and investigators are actively working to reconstruct this crime.

Cumberledge stressed that while this murder is still under investigation, “this crime was premeditated. The victims in this case were targeted, and the shooting was an isolated incident.”

News 12 will continue to follow the investigation. Sheriff Cumberledge explains the events leading up to the search warrant on the Love County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page.
