DWD announces weather change in NRW: Summer is back!

The DWD’s 10-day trend currently shows a continuously rising curve in terms of temperatures. By Sunday (September 22), temperatures in NRW could rise to 25 degrees during the day. In connection with the weather trend, the DWD even uses the term “Indian summer”. It will be predominantly sunny and dry.

The term “Indian summer” comes from the old German word “weiben,” which means to weave. According to the German Weather Service, it describes constant early autumn high pressure systems over Central Europe. These occur particularly frequently from mid-September to early October. During the day there are summer temperatures, and at night it gets cool, with heavy dew and often fog.
