GTA 6 fans are relieved as former Rockstar developer denies delay

Rumors of GTA 6 being delayed have been in the news for a long time, but due to leaks surrounding the gameplay and the release of Trailer 2, the rumors of the release being delayed had remained in the background for a while. Says former Rockstar Games technical director Obbe Vermeij If GTA 6 is delayed to 2026, then the news will probably come in May 2025. Rockstar Games has always believed in delivering quality games and about this they have made a statement saying, “They will not release the game until they are 100% happy with it.” So, there is not the slightest possibility that Rockstar employees will even know about the delay until mid-2025. Obbe Vermeij has worked with the Rocsktar Games company on several Grand Theft Auto games and two of them are Grand Theft Auto Vice City and GTA San Andreas. Therefore, he knows the inside information about what happens when there is a possibility of a delay or postponement of the release window for the game.

Obbe Vermeij has admitted that he does not have access to internal information on the matter, but has confirmed from his experience with Rockstar Games that the current rumor about the release delay is false. Grand Theft Auto 4 was supposed to be released in 2007, but the decision to delay the release from 2007 to 2008 was made just four months before the actual release date. He adds that the decision to delay must have been made in June, but it was announced in August, just two months before the actual release date of October 2007.

His post caught the attention of users on “X” and they asked him some questions about more details of the game. One of the users on “Twisted Mind Games” asked him: “I see. I want to ask what do you think, will GTA VI’s physics be more advanced than GTA IV’s? Generally speaking. Since Euphoria is still great and could maybe be even better, maybe R* has developed something new instead, but what are the chances that it will be better?” To which he replied: “I don’t know all the answers. I left there 15 years ago. R* will keep working on making better games.”

He also says that Take Two will leave the decision about the release of GTA 6 entirely to Rockstar Games. There will be no interference from the parent company in such matters.

He also hinted at the PC release of GTA 6 and replied to another user that he would have to wait until 2027 to get GTA 6 on PC. According to him, ideally GTA 6 would run at 30 fps on Xbox Series S, X and PS5 and at 60 fps on PS5 Pro. However, he also believes that the game’s performance on Xbox would be a disaster and there would be a huge performance gap between the Xbox Series S and PS5 Pro.

GTA 6 release has been announced by Rockstar Games for Fall 2025 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S and any kind of possible delay would not be announced until mid-2025. This release delay could happen if Rockstar Games is not entirely happy with the development of GTA 6 which is currently being promoted by them as one of the most immersive games ever made. They are confident that GTA 6 will continue to sell for more than 10 years after its release and Rockstar Games will not compromise on the quality to release it on the officially announced release date. So, the player should not believe any rumors about the game being delayed until the delay is officially announced by Rockstar Games itself.
