Apple’s new Tide app now available for Apple Watch

Apple’s new Tide app now available for Apple Watch

Along with watchOS 11, Apple has brought a new app to your Apple Watch that you may not have heard of yet: Tides (App Store link). The application is available exclusively for the Apple Watch and, somewhat surprisingly, is quite stylishly designed. But it’s not just the look that’s great, it also provides a lot of useful information.

Immediately after the first start, some locations are already preselected. However, you can use geolocation to find the beach right in front of you in no time at all, or you can use a search function directly on your Apple Watch.

As soon as you have selected a beach, you will see a “wave” with the tides. You can easily move over this with the digital crown and see the tides up to a week in advance. You can also use the small info icon to call up weather data such as UV index, water temperature, visibility or wind.

In addition, the Tide app also allows you to put difficulties on your watch face. Different sizes are available here so that you can customize your desired watch face accordingly.

Free tide alternative for iPhone

Basically, Apple has only forgotten one thing: the tide app for iPhone and iPad. We cannot explain why the application is only available for the Apple Watch.

This free alternative for the iPhone provides the most important data

There is a large selection in the App Store, most applications can be used to their full extent, but only with in-app purchases. Fortunately, there are one or two exceptions, such as the tide app by Tassilo Bouwman. Floods: Tides & Widgets (App Store link) can be downloaded for free to all your Apple devices and is completely free of advertising or in-app purchases.

The app is certainly not as stylish as Apple’s work for the Apple Watch, but it is easy to set favorites and keep track of the current times. There are also widgets for the home and lock screen, a dark mode and even a Mac app.
