Perfect start for the men of HSG Schwarzerden-Kusel

The men’s team of HSG Schwarzerden-Kusel, which competes in the A-League East (HV Saar), had a perfect start to the season in their home game on Saturday. From the very beginning, the home team dominated the guests of MSG Merchweiler-Itzenplitz IV and won clearly with 33:26 (19:12).

The home team got off to a flying start. The scores were 5:1 after six minutes and 11:4 after 15 minutes. The MSG had little to counter the quick attacks. The defense was alert and backed up by a strong goalkeeper. The visitors, for their part, struggled to attack and barely managed to score. The HSG kept up the pace in the second 15 minutes, pulling away goal after goal until the halftime score was 19:12.

In the second half, the HSG continued as before. They won balls from the opponent, ran fast counterattacks, and confidently converted chances into goals. At 28:15 (44th minute), coach Christian Jung’s sevens had thrown themselves a 13-goal lead for the first time, and held on to the lead until 31:18 (51st minute). The victory for the home team has long been certain. And with the feeling of a safe lead, the HSG now wasted its chances, wasting several shots. The defense was also no longer as consistent, and Merchweiler was able to make the result more friendly by the end with a 33:26.

The guarantees of victory were the full bench with 13 players, all of whom were used, the good integration of the many new arrivals, the fast attacking game and the strong defensive performance, especially in the first half. The HSG men can build on this start.

The next game for the HSG men is on Saturday at 7 p.m. against SG Zweibrücken III. And in the preliminary game at 5 p.m. the HSG women (HV Saar district league) will host SG Zweibrücken II (both in the Roßberg hall in Kusel).
