Investigations underway after student brought a weapon to FWCS school on Wednesday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) – Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) officials say an investigation is underway after a student allegedly brought a gun into the Electric Works school’s amp lab on Wednesday.

Officers from the Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) were called to the school at 1030 Swinney Ave. on the Electric Works campus around 12:15 p.m.

FWPD confirmed that a 16-year-old boy entered school grounds with a gun in his school bag. They said they were able to confiscate the bag and gun without incident. According to FWPD, no one was injured during the investigation.

The teenager will be charged with possession of a firearm on school grounds, police said.
