In the first episode of the new series last night, he was seen vomiting before leaving the theater early.

His exit was not explained in the Channel 4 show – but singer and actor John attributed it to the consumption of vegan sandwiches.

The 57-year-old, who lost his job as a judge on ITV in 2021 over flashing light allegations, said it was the only food offered before the first task in New Zealand.

He told The Sun: ‘I’m neither vegan nor vegetarian, but they forced everyone to eat horrible tofu.

“I would never eat tofu in my life, but you are so hungry that you just eat it.”

Barrowman, who suffers from motion sickness, then had to take a two-hour drive to the scene.

He said: “Then the vomit was everywhere and the tofu came up.

“I thought, ‘I’m not going to make myself sick or hurt myself trying to prove something I don’t need to prove.’

“And it was me, seriously, who said, ‘I feel completely comfortable with who I am.

“I am an all-round happy person.

“We all have our problems and difficulties, but I made a mistake.”

Meanwhile, writer Rachel Johnson said she broke a rib during a challenge on the show but decided to “keep going.”

Celebrities who have given up their careers due to ailments include James Argent (Towie), who suffered from trench foot, and Marnie Simpson (Geordie Shore), who developed an infected wound on her chest.
