According to report, Barcelona signs Wojciech Szczesny

Barcelona have signed out-of-contract goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny on a one-year contract, bringing the Polish player back from retirement.

The 34-year-old former Arsenal, Juventus and Roma player announced his retirement less than a month ago. According to Fabrizio Romano, Szczęsny and Barcelona have agreed on a one-year contract to replace the injured Marc-André ter Stegen. A medical examination is due to take place in Spain in the next few days.

Ter Stegen suffered a rupture of the patellar tendon in his right knee in last weekend’s La Liga match against Villarreal. The goalkeeper underwent successful surgery but is expected to miss the rest of the season. Szczęsny will likely step in as the new first-choice goalkeeper, with Iñaki Peña serving as his backup.

The 34-year-old won two FA Cups and a Premier League Golden Glove with Arsenal, and three Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies with Juventus. Szczęsny has played 84 games for the Polish national team since his debut in 2009.

In total, Szczęsny made 472 appearances in Serie A, the Premier League and the Champions League.
