Notre Dame basketball teams announce conference schedules

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) – We’re in the middle of football season, but basketball season is just around the corner.

Notre Dame’s men’s and women’s teams had previously announced their non-conference schedules, but both teams’ ACC rosters were not released until Tuesday evening.

Women

Let’s start with the women. The Irish made it to the last 16 last year and won the conference tournament despite being seeded fourth.

Notre Dame went 13-5 in the ACC last year, and this season the Irish will open their conference schedule on Dec. 8 before hitting the ground running at the start of 2025.

Let’s take a look at some of their biggest matchups. Their opening game is at Syracuse on December 8th. Then they have their first conference home game against Virginia on December 29th.

They will also welcome new members SMU, Stanford and Cal to the conference. All three will travel to South Bend, starting with SMU on January 19.

The rematch of last year’s ACC championship game will take place on February 23 when Notre Dame plays at NC State.

14 of their 18 ACC games will be broadcast on national television.

Men

Now let’s turn to the men. They aren’t coming off such a stellar conference season last year, when they went 7-13 in the ACC in head coach Micah Shrewsberry’s first season as coach of the program. The Irish were the 12th seed in the ACC Tournament and beat Georgia Tech in the first round before losing to Wake Forest in the next game, ending the season.

This year, the men will also begin their ACC schedule against Syracuse, but not until December 7 when they host the Orange.

Then the bulk of their conference schedule begins on New Year’s Eve when they play away against Georgia Tech.

They will also have ACC newcomers SMU, Stanford and Cal all at home, with Stanford and Cal completing the conference schedule on March 5 and 8.
