Winamp Legacy Player now available as source code for developers on GitHub

Just a quick update. As already reported in May, Winamp has now released the source code for the Winamp Player. Developers now have the opportunity to adapt the “good old” player to current requirements.

Nevertheless, the media player will still be available as a download for Windows, Android or iOS. It will be interesting to see whether the community will engage with the player and what the result will look like. But it won’t be quite that simple. There are terms of use that must be complied with.

For example, no commercial use is allowed and which functions will be included in the newer versions (which will be released twice a year as an official version) will be decided by the community and the Llama Player Team. Also similar to the PowerToys. The community submits ideas and possible functions and the team then decides whether this function makes sense.
