Ruto leaves his busy schedule behind and takes a walk in New York

President William Ruto on Wednesday took a rare break from the hectic agenda of the ongoing 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) to stroll through the streets of New York City.

Ruto, who left the country last Saturday, is in the country to attend the annual meeting of the 193 member states of the United Nations.

A relaxed-looking Ruto, wearing a black suit and brown tie, was seen walking while browsing on his tablet.

He was accompanied by State House Deputy Chief of Staff Josphat Nanok and his local and foreign staff.

The trip may have enabled him to experience the city’s iconic atmosphere amid the high-stakes diplomatic discussions in the assembly.

During the day, he chaired several panel discussions and also took part in bilateral talks with various heads of state and key figures, including British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

During the meeting, Ruto said their discussions focused on the implementation of the Railway City project, the extension of our strategic partnership agreement and the expansion of trade between our two countries.

“Kenya and the United Kingdom have a long history of cooperation and friendship. We are committed to strengthening our cooperation on climate finance, implementing renewable energy initiatives and advocating for reforms in the international financial system,” he said.
