Selena Gomez is back as Alex Russo in the trailer for “Wizards Beyond Waverly Place”

Not everything is as it seems – unless it’s the official trailer for Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.

The trailer for the spin-off series “Wizards of Waverly Place” was released on Tuesday and brings Selena Gomez back together with her film brother David Henrie.

Henrie takes center stage in the trailer, reprising his role as Justin Russo from the Disney Channel original series. The series is about the adult Justin, who is now married, has two sons and has chosen a mortal life without magic. Until his sister Alex (Gomez) shows up with the powerful young sorceress Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) and asks him for help with her magic training.

“You are a powerful wizard. Some people see that as a threat. But I promise I won’t let anything happen to you,” Justin says to Billie in the trailer.

Alkaio Thiele, Max Matenko, Taylor Cora and Mimi Gianopulos also star in the brand new sitcom. Gomez guest stars in the series pilot and serves as an executive producer on the series.

Wizards Beyond Waverly Place premieres with a two-episode premiere exclusively on Disney Channel on October 29. The first nine episodes of the season will be available to stream on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand the following day, October 30.

“Wizards of Waverly Place” ran for four seasons on the Disney Channel from 2007 to 2012.
