In the last ten years, there has been no debate about Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi dividing football fans.

The two are without a doubt among the greatest footballers of all time and it is difficult to tell them apart.

Manchester United star Marcus Rashford expressed his opinion years ago before sharing the field with Ronaldo.

Many thought the debate was settled when Messi won the 2022 World Cup, but for Ronaldo fans, that doesn’t seem to be the case. The Portuguese star has won everything except the World Cup.

Messi has won more Ballon d’Ors than the Al-Nassr superstar but has scored fewer goals. In 2018, Rashford said Messi was the GOAT.

“Some of the things he does are incredible,” he said about Sportbible. “I’m a big fan of [Cristiano] Ronaldo too, but I think Messi is the greatest of all time.”

During the 2022 World Cup, Rashford praised the former Real Madrid star after Ronaldo’s inglorious exit from Man United.

“He’s obviously one of my idols and someone I’ve always looked up to,” he said on SuperSport. “To have the opportunity to play with him is incredible and I’ll take that with me and it’s something I can keep with me forever.”

Ronaldo is 39 and has hinted that he could move on, but it is unclear whether he will play in the 2026 World Cup.
