Murder investigation launched after police find skeletal remains in Kansas pasture

Authorities launched a murder investigation after skeletal remains were found in a pasture in southeast Kansas on Tuesday.

The Neodesha Police Department called the Kansas Bureau of Investigation Tuesday morning after finding skeletal remains in a pasture east of Neodesha in Wilson County, a KBI news release said.

When KBI agents arrived, they determined that the remains were human.

An autopsy will be performed and “clear identification may take longer than in normal cases due to the condition of the remains,” the KBI said.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to call the KBI at 1-800-KS-CRIME. Anonymous tips can also be submitted at https://www.kbi.ks.gov/sar.

The Neodesha Police Department and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office are assisting the KBI in the investigation.

Neodesha is a city of 2,275 residents about two hours east of Wichita.
