St. Paul, Minnesota (Fox 9)An artist working on a project was killed in a shooting in downtown St. Paul on Wednesday evening.

So far, police have released few details about the circumstances of the shooting.

St. Paul police said officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of ​​Kellogg Boulevard and Wall Street around 5:18 p.m. Wednesday.

A woman who had been shot was found at the crime scene. The woman’s death was eventually confirmed at the crime scene.

Officers believe the suspect involved in the shooting left the area in a vehicle.

Our teams saw investigators working in an alley behind the Lowertown Lofts Art Cooperative. While police could not release any details about the victim, the art cooperative posted on Facebook that the woman killed was a member of their group.

They wrote: “This afternoon, one of our members was shot while working on an art project outside of our building. We don’t have much information at this time, but we are working closely with authorities to resolve this tragic incident. We ask our friends and neighbors not to speculate about the situation. Our community is shocked and grieving as we grapple with the unimaginable.”
